Saturday I taught my new Morning Glory class for the first time. During the week I quilted the sample piece and then faced the quilt with a pillowcase facing (my first one). It turned out perfectly!
Here's my class sample...
The organic shape is different, and the continuous line morning glory leaf quilting pattern I designed worked well.

Fun Class Day
Yesterday I took a wonderful class taught by my gal pal Mary Ann Mauney and it was fun! It was especially healing after a day of dealing with a dead computer. The title of the class was Easy & Easier; in it we learned to work with all kinds of stabilizers and fusibles to make a piece like my sunflower...
It's not yet finished, but it will be!
Here's Holly working on her piece...
Linda and Janey had wonderful pieces too.
Mary Ann is a new and wonderful teacher in Georgia, and we're lucky to have her.

Doing This & That
I worked on many different projects this weekend...
...a little applique for handwork
...some machine quilting of placemats for Spring
It was hard to see the pattern on the baseball fabric, so there were some open spots on the back...
...this one's turning out better, but it's still on the machine...
There's also lots of paperwork going on like setting up the 2011 schedule for shows and teaching.
This weekend our son made dinner: knishes with potato, chicken and peas. OMG they were so good!

Youth Event & More
This week I taught a class on making fabric beads for a youth event at the University of Georgia. My students were high school age and came to the university for the event. Here are some of their beads as they dry...
I've also been working on my Morning Glory piece, but had a snag. One of the colors I chose was a little too red for the flower, so I used textile paint (ProFab paint by Pro Chemical) to paint that one fabric purple. It worked great! The offending color was second from the top in this triangle...
Perfect!

Using scraps & a new quilt top
Last night I made pillow form covers, and today I am filling them with some of the many bags of scraps from my studio...
The scraps make a nice firm pillow form that deflates only a little bit over time. I mix the scraps with fiber fill to keep it light enough to be comfortable. The scraps consist of fabric edges, batting that's too small to use otherwise (I cut it smaller with the rotary cutter), excess edges from old t-shirts that are now rags, thread scraps...you name it -- it's in there.
I started piecing this quilt last week and I'm not pleased with it...yet. I've got some ideas on how to make it better. Stay tuned...

Our Booth & Some of the Show
This is our booth at the quilt show, and these are the best helpers a gal could have.
Here's a sampling of the show...
This next one is a hooked rug by Sugah Bobbie with a nice big ribbon on it (we all love her)...
Love Barbie's wolves...
...and Mary Ann's screen printing...
And here are the four that I entered...
Come on over and visit the show today before it closes at 4:00. We open at noon at the Oconee County Civic Center in Watkinsville, GA.

Quilt Show! and more...
Our 2011 Cotton Patch Quilt Show starts in two days!
We have been busy, busy, dyeing fabric, pressing (Bill does that), folding, pricing, etc. The fabrics are so pretty (if I may say so)...
We'll have about 10 or 12 tubs like this in our booth. It's like working in a color explosion for three days. Fun!
Today the stitches came out of my foot and I can now put pressure on my toes. That's a good thing with the busy weekend coming up.
Below is a quilt we haven't seen in a while. It arrived from Germany last week with a bunch of Bryan's Army stuff. I made this quilt for him when he moved to Germany over five years ago. It has been to Europe and Afghanistan and actually still looks very good. That's the cavalry flag in the center.
The quilt looks good compared to the computers he brought to Afghanistan. Here are two of the three that were trashed over there. Three laptops in 27 months. Darrell, our older son, is our Superman techie with computers and will salvage what he can from these poor babies.
