The Lyndon House Arts Center

This weekend the Lyndon House Arts Center in downtown Athens, GA had its first annual Lickskillet Art Market. This contemporary art center building with lovely architecture and lush lawns was built off the back of the lovely antebellum home, the Ware-Lyndon House. I'll have to get a photo of the house for y'all.

For you northern folks who read my blog, "antebellum" refers to pre-Civil War era in the Southern states. I had to look up the meaning when we moved to lovely Athens because we have quite a few antebellum homes in town.

The art market ran all day Saturday with 39 art vendors (inside and outside), art demonstrations in the classrooms, children's activities in the children's classroom, music and refreshments and snacks for purchase. We were blessed with perfect weather and enthusiastic vendors and visitors.

This was the indoor setup with 16 vendors.

Outdoor setup...pretty chilly before the sun came over the building.

We were quite busy as the day went on, so there was no time for more photos...

Here's my DH Bill (dear husband, not designated hitter) manning the table where his rust dyed fabric art was moving like hotcakes.

A good time was had by all. Let's do it again next year!

Hanging Large Show Quilts

The York County Quilters hung their large quilts in a most unusual way for the show this past weekend. Take a look...

Skirt hangers! Who would have thought? They saw this method at another quilt show and said it was very easy to hang and take down the quilts.

York County Quilt Guild Show

We had a nice weekend at the York County Quilt Guild Show in Rock Hill, SC. Rock Hill itself is lovely.

Our booth was wide and narrow--our first in this shape--and very comfortable.

My friend Wynnell (we were formerly in the Killer Bees group together in Pensacola), moved to Rock Hill about four years ago and is now the president of the guild there. She suggested that I become a vendor for their show.

This is Wynnell (on the right) selling tickets to their outstanding raffle quilt. It will be raffled in the Spring. It would be lovely in my home

Here is one of Wynnell's quilts...

And this is the Best of Show... (quiltmaker's names are in the following photos)

Here are a couple more of my favorites...

York County Quilt Show, South Carolina

I'm running my vendor booth this weekend at the York County Quilt Guild Show in Rock Hill, SC. We're just 4 hours from Athens, GA and just south of Charlotte, NC. If you're in the vicinity, come on down! Their Opportunity Quilt (raffle quilt) is absolutely stunning.

North Georgia Folk Festival

Yesterday was a perfect weather day for our quilt guild to have a booth at the North Georgia Folk Festival at Sandy Creek Park in Athens, GA. It was my first time at the Festival and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

The music stage is behind this tent at the bottom of the small hill and folks brought their blankets and chairs to enjoy the show.

Deb is selling tickets for a chance to win our Guild's Opportunity Quilt (left) at the quilt show in March 2011.

Busy, Busy

Here's what I've been working on lately...

Dyed fabrics for the upcoming show.

More fabrics in the process.

More wool being dyed too.

I'm sewing another sample for my Beginner Quiltmaking classes. These are the samples I use, so they'll become another quilt (this isn't the layout).

As a bonus, I've been sewing the trimmed triangles from the stars into these half-square triangles. There are enough here to use in a little miniature quilt sometime in the future.
